SHEERMAL
Sheermal is a sweetened bread serve with korma or nihari mostly includes in wedding or any special occasion menu in Pakistani cuisine.
Preheat the oven: 5-8 minutes
Baking temperature: 200 degree Celsius
Baking time: 10-15 minutes
INGREDIENTS:
- Plain flour: 2 cups
- Khoya: 1/2 cup
- Instant yeast: 2 teaspoon
- Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
- Kewra water: 1/2 teaspoon
- Castor sugar (powder): 1 tablespoon.
- Ghee: 3 tablespoon heaped
- Cream: 2 tablespoon.
- Egg: 1
- Lukewarm milk for kneading.
For sprinkle and brushing: Sesame seeds and milk for brushing.
DIRECTIONS:
- Mix all ingredients except milk, add milk slowly, and make a soft dough with lukewarm milk.
- Knead the dough very well and keep in a greased air-tight container for rise till it doubles.
- When double in size, punched down the dough and divide into 3-4 balls.
- Spread with the hands and stretch it and make a round or oval shape sheermal.
- Put it on the foiled and greased oven tray.
- Prick the center with fork, not the sides.
- Leave it covered for second proofing for 30 minutes.
- Brush the top with milk and sprinkle sesame seeds or granulated sugar (if you like sweet sheermal)
- Bake in preheat oven for 10-15 minutes.
- Take it out immediately and then brush with milk.
- Keep these warm, wrapped in a cloth or foil.
